description: John James Conklin Was Born In 1868 In Forest, On. He Came To Winnipeg As A Boy Of 13 In 1881. After Serving As Editor Of The University Of Manitoba Newspaper, He Joined The Free Press In 1937. He Spent Many Summers At Victoria Beach, Mb, And Was Largely Responsible For The Development Of That Summer Resort On Lake Winnipeg. He Was Publisher Of The Victoria Beach News For A Number Of Years. He Spent 51 Years On The Free Press Staff, Holding More Positions Than Any Other Free Press Employee. He Died On February 7, 1952 At The Age Of 83. Photo From A Glass Lantern Slide; Donated By R.H.
